The Nonprofit Insurance Coalition (NIC) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that has been created for the purpose of securing property, casualty, and health insurance through a group purchasing mechanism.
NIC is the First 501c3 Nonprofit Insurance Trust in Florida solely existing to insure Florida nonprofits.
NIC is incorporated in the state of Florida and has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501c3 Nonprofit. NIC is comprised of and governed by a Board of Directors from its membership. Currently NIC has five (5) board members and four additional (non-board) members.
NIC has filed to be an insurance trust under Florida statute 624.4625 and was approved by FLOIR on April 24, 2025.
NIC is an insurance trust owned by its members and governed by a Board of Directors comprised of its members. Board seats will be term limited, and any currently insured member will be eligible to be elected to a vacant board seat.
With most insurance carriers leaving the Florida nonprofit sector of social services, the purpose of the NIC is to utilize group purchasing power through its’ membership to secure coverage and cost-effective insurance for their members.
The insurance coverages that NIC will be providing are:
General Liability, Directors & Officers, Employee Benefits Liability, Professional, Abuse / Molestation, Auto (including Hired Non-Owned), Accident, Inland Marine, Property.
NIC intends to provide Risk Management, Loss Control and Safety services to its members.
The intention is to provide a “Best” standard for its members and reduce claims and thereby reducing the cost of insurance.
NIC will operate in transparency with each currently insured member receiving a copy of the Annual Audited Financials each year.
NIC is currently seeking members from the nonprofit community across the state of Florida.
